Controller Area Network or CAN is a multimaster serial communication protocol developed by Bosch in the 1980s. Though designed for the automotive industry, it has now found its way to many low speed industrial applications. CAN’s multimaster, multicast frame transmission, bus arbitration, error counters and error detection signalling can introduce complex validation and debugging challenges.
This webinar provides an overview of the CAN protocol, demonstrates how engineers can validate a CAN node or a CAN network.
The session will cover the different CAN versions, different frame types, frame formats, bus arbitration, frame acknowledgement and CRC generation. A live demonstration of the PGY-CAN-EX-PD Protocol Exerciser and Analyzer will show how to emulate a node, generate traffic, inject errors, monitor and analyze a CAN network.
